Warehouse Shift Supervisor

Warrington · £30,000 - £34,000 · Full-time, 42 hrs avg · 4-on-4-off, days and nights rotating

Posted 26 August 2026 · Closes 23 September 2026 · Recruiting on behalf of a client — no fees for candidates

About the role

Our client operates a high-volume distribution centre in Warrington serving major retail customers, and they're recruiting a Shift Supervisor to run a team of 15–20 operatives on a 4-on-4-off pattern. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who leads from the floor: safety first, service always, and people treated properly. You'll own your shift's numbers — pick accuracy, despatch on time, agency hours — and you'll be trusted to run it your way within the site's framework. The operation is growing, and the current management team includes several people promoted from exactly this role, so the step up to Shift Manager is real for the right person.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, brief and motivate a shift of 15–20 warehouse operatives
  • Plan labour against daily volume forecasts and flex agency support
  • Run start-of-shift briefings covering safety, priorities and performance
  • Own health and safety on shift: audits, near-miss reporting and safe working practices
  • Monitor pick accuracy, productivity and despatch deadlines through the WMS
  • Manage returns, discrepancies and problem orders through to resolution
  • Coach underperformance fairly and develop your strongest operatives towards team leader
  • Complete shift handovers, absence records and daily KPI reporting
  • Deputise for the Shift Manager during holidays and absence

What we're looking for

  • Supervisory or strong team-leader experience in warehousing, distribution or production
  • Confident with WMS systems and daily KPI reporting
  • Strong people skills — visible, fair and firm, comfortable with difficult conversations
  • Good understanding of warehouse health and safety; IOSH Working/Managing Safely (desirable)
  • Able to commit fully to a 4-on-4-off days/nights rotation
  • Counterbalance or reach FLT licence (desirable)
  • Experience of peak-period planning in a retail-driven operation (desirable)

The package

• £30,000 – £34,000 depending on experience • 4-on-4-off pattern — half the year off • 33 days holiday equivalent built into the pattern • Company pension scheme • Healthcare cash plan • On-site parking, canteen and uniform • Genuine progression to Shift Manager
