Business Development Manager

Manchester · £35,000 - £45,000 + uncapped commission · Full-time, 37.5 hrs · Hybrid + field — home, office and client visits

Posted 26 August 2026 · Closes 23 September 2026 · Recruiting on behalf of a client — no fees for candidates

About the role

Our client, a growing B2B services company headquartered in Manchester, is recruiting a Business Development Manager to win new accounts across the North West. This is a genuine hunter role — you'll own a territory, build your own pipeline and close your own deals — but with real support behind you: inbound leads from an active marketing engine, an SDR for outreach support and a delivery team that makes clients stay. The product solves a real, budgeted problem for mid-sized businesses, deal cycles run weeks rather than years, and commission is genuinely uncapped — the top performer last year more than doubled their base. The sales culture is grown-up: activity matters, but they manage on pipeline quality and honesty, not call-count theatre.

What you'll be doing

  • Build and own a qualified pipeline across your North West territory
  • Convert inbound marketing leads and generate your own through networking, referrals and targeted outreach
  • Run discovery meetings that genuinely diagnose before prescribing
  • Build tailored proposals and commercial cases with the pre-sales team
  • Present and negotiate at owner/director level through to close
  • Hand new clients cleanly to account management with expectations set honestly
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecasts and activity in the CRM
  • Attend regional networking events and industry exhibitions
  • Feed market intelligence back into product and marketing

What we're looking for

  • Proven B2B new-business track record with evidence — numbers, not anecdotes
  • A consultative style: you listen, qualify hard and walk away from bad-fit deals
  • Confident presenting and negotiating with owners and directors
  • Self-managing — you run your territory like your own business
  • Full UK driving licence
  • CRM discipline — HubSpot or Salesforce experience (desirable)
  • Experience selling services rather than products (desirable)

The package

• £35,000 – £45,000 base depending on experience • Uncapped commission — realistic OTE £60,000–£70,000 • Car allowance and mileage • Hybrid working — home, Manchester office and the road • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays • Private healthcare and pension • Laptop, phone and proper marketing support
